Schools Division of Tarlac Province Spearheads the Establishment of TSU Extension Campus
To ensure that all Grade 12 Tarlakhenyo learners will push through higher education, Schools Division of Tarlac Province, headed by the trailblazer Superintendent, Dr. Ronnie S. Mallari spearheaded the project of the establishment of Tarlac State University (TSU) Extension Campus in Moncada, Tarlac in response to the 72 Public High Schools offering Senior High School Program and 16,158 Senior High School graduands who want to pursue college education.
The Provincial Government of Tarlac(PGT), with the leadership of Gov. Susan Yap together with the Local Government Unit of Moncada and the officials TSU and the Department of Education Schools Division of Tarlac Province are working hand in hand for the realization of the project which will bring Unified Students Financial Assistance for Tertiary Education(UNIFAST)-to offer free higher education, scholarship program and subsidy to students to enrol in private tertiary.
To embark on the service -centered project, a meeting was held last October 02, 2023 at Moncada, Town Hall. The Local Government Unit of Moncada headed by Mayor Estelita M. Aquino together with the Sangguniang Bayan officials, TSU officials, Dr. Yolanda M. Gonzales, Principal IV of Tarlac National High School, with her Head teacher IV in Mapeh Department, Maám Agnes Canlas and Dr. Ronnie S. Mallari,Schools Division of Tarlac Province Superintendent were present during the meeting.
Dr. Mallari presented the conceptualization of the project. There are 72 Public High Schools offering Senior High School Program in the province of Tarlac. As of September 13, 2023, there are 19,405 Grade 12 learners enrolled. According to the Survey made by Deped Tarlac Province on Grade 12 Graduands’ Preferred Pathways after Graduation,13% ( 2,473) of the graduands will enter entrepreneurship, 15%(2842) for employment and 72%( 14, 090) wants to enter tertiary Education. With these data, there is no assurance that all the graduands will be accommodated in all the Tertiary Schools available in the province. It is in this premise that the establishment of TSU Extension Campus in Moncada has brought to existence. Furthermore, the Local Government Unit of Moncada donated the site where the extension campus will be built, in Barangay Camangaan East, Moncada, Tarlac with total lot area 9,300 SQ. M.
Meanwhile, PGT, DepEd, LGU of Moncada and TSU planned to profile Grade 12 graduands on their concrete preferred courses and family financial capability in pursuing higher education, develop campaign and awareness strategies for graduands as to the scholarships available and coordinate with the Provincial Government of Tarlac (PGT) as to the available scholarship slots.
The completion of the project will improve education for all and provide a brighter future for the Tarlaquenos.
