Did you know… Moncada, Tarlac is home to not one, but TWO iconic folk dances? Aside from the world-famous and historic La Jota Moncadenia, the town is also home to the captivating Pandanggo folk dance.
Based on the volume one of Philippine Folk Dances of National Artist Francisca Reyes Aquino (published in 1953), Pandanggo is as popular as jotas and is also of Spanish origin. This particular dance was found in Moncada, Tarlac.
There are many different versions of Pandanggo and they are known variously as Pandanggo, Pandangueado, Pandang Pandang, Pandanggo sa Ilaw, Pandanggo sa Sambalilo, etc.
