National Indigenous Peoples Thanksgiving Day

In conjuction with the month-long celebration of National Indigenous Month every October, we are celebrating October 29 as National Indigenous Peoples Thanksgiving Day per Presidential Proclamation No. 468 (s. 2003), a reminder to abide by the Constitution’s mandate to recognize and protect the rights of indigenous cultural communities / indigenous peoples (ICCs/IPs) with the framework of national unity and development. This day also marks the signing of the Indigenous Peoples Rights Act (IPRA) of 1997.
