The Sangguniang Bayan of Moncada has approved and enacted MUNICIPAL ORDINANCE NO. 2024-020, otherwise known as “An Ordinance Rationalizing and Adopting the Official Date of the Foundation of the Municipality of Moncada, Province of Tarlac, from 01 July 1875 to 01 May 1874,” on December 16, 2024. <https://drive.google.com/…/10BbN1PlTDNwKKSHLzc7…/view…>
During the May 31, 2024 MOA signing between Moncada LGU and TSU, Dr. Lino L. Dizon, Immediate Commissioner of the National Historical Commission of the Philippines (NHCP) and former Head of Tarlac State University’s Center for Tarlaqueño Studies, presented the May 1, 1874 Superior Decree, signed by Acting Governor-General Manuel Blanco Valderrama, which elevated barrio San Ramon to the township of Moncada, emphasizing the need to correct the basis for the July 1 celebration.
Moreover, to ensure the authenticity of documents and records, students from Tarlac State University, under the leadership of the Center for Community and Local Governance Studies and Policy Development, conducted a series of cultural mapping sessions across the entire municipality.
After thorough studies, extensive research, and heritage assessments, the said offices and departments conducted a public presentation and consultation on the founding of Moncada, on December 10, 2024 where Dr. Dizon uncovered archival documents supporting the earlier foundation date.
As of this date, the municipal government of Moncada is in the process of updating the relevant papers and other documents pertaining to the official foundation date.
