Cultural Mapping Project

Along with the Cultural Mapping Project initiated by Tarlac State University (TSU) in partnership with the Local Government Unit of Moncada, the initiative presses forward with its objective of preserving the cultural heritage of the Municipality of Moncada, as it resumed activities on Monday, October 14.

The day began with a briefing session led by Sir Bryan Jan Dizon, who reviewed the various cultural heritage elements mapped out since the project’s inception and recalibrated the strategic plan for the cultural mappers.

Furthermore, Mr. Deyo Carlos Dela Cruz emphasized the importance of asking questions that help cultural mappers uncover both tangible and intangible aspects of Moncada’s culture, particularly as they explore the municipality’s rich heritage.

On that day, the cultural mapping team focused on notable figures from Moncada, including Mr. Raul S. Concepcion, Mr. Teofilo S. Guiang Sr., former Tarlac Governor Antonio L. Lopez, and former Vice Mayor Jaime Duque.

Additionally, the team mapped out the “Awit ng Moncada” and traced the use of a musical instrument called the Angklung, which is traditionally used in the municipality.

Finally, the cultural mappers encoded the data they collected in alignment with the format provided by the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA). The encoded data will be evaluated within the NCCA’s designated time frame.

The thorough review and documentation will continue, ensuring the preservation of Moncada’s cultural legacy for future generations.
